Child Solitary Speech

It's common for young children to talk to themselves while playing or engaging in other activities. This behavior is known as "solitary speech" or "private speech."

Solitary speech is a normal part of a child's development and can actually be beneficial for their cognitive and social-emotional development. By talking to themselves, children can practice language skills, work through problems, and regulate their emotions.

If you notice your child talking to themselves, there's usually no need for concern. However, if the behavior seems excessive or interferes with their ability to interact with others or complete tasks, it may be worth discussing with a pediatrician or mental health professional.
